The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is a non-profit, government-funded organization committed to serving and uniting the Inuit communities across the Qikiqtani region. Their website needed to function as a trustworthy and secure digital hub, one that could clearly communicate a broad spectrum of information in both English and Inuktitut. A key challenge was creating an interface that delivered diverse content in a user-friendly, accessible, and culturally respectful manner.

Recognizing that a majority of the communities speak Inuktitut, we prioritized bilingual accessibility throughout the site. Word of the Day
To support language preservation and cultural engagement, QIA launched its “Word of the Day” initiative, a popular social media campaign encouraging the public to learn Inuktitut. We brought this initiative to life online with a dynamic page featuring audio recordings and phrase explanations. First launched in 2017 and expanded in 2019, this interactive feature continues to foster daily engagement and cultural learning.
